Recovery, Represented: Our Team Hits the Green at the NFL Alumni Celebrity Golf Tournament

There are days that remind you exactly why this work matters and a recent afternoon on the golf course was one of them.

Our team was invited as a vendor at the NFL Alumni celebrity golf tournament, a full-circle moment made possible by a client who came to us over a year ago. He arrived in our 18-month program still struggling — drinking, facing serious health issues, and at risk of losing a career built on relationship-driven work. Since then, he’s remained sober, and it was his generosity that opened the door for us to be there.

The tournament brought together 140 golfers in 28 groups of five, and it didn’t take long to realize something special: nearly every group included an NFL player. Posted up at hole seven, our team spent the day meeting former players, learning who they played with and when, and swapping stories over photos.

What stayed with us most wasn’t the star power — it was the response. Time and again, players who stopped by our booth weren’t just curious, they were grateful. Several had been through treatment themselves and knew firsthand how far-reaching this kind of work is. Conversations that started with “what are you guys serving?” turned into real exchanges once they saw our pamphlets and realized we were there for a very different reason. In a field where the wins are often quiet and the recognition is rare, it meant a lot to be seen and thanked for the work we do every day.

We’re grateful for the connection that made this possible, and even more excited about what it opens up — including future opportunities to partner with NFL Alumni and expand the reach of our work. Stay tuned as we look for more ways to show up in the community and tell these stories.
